Dubai Canal – Another Feather In The Crown For Dubai & UAE

With The opening of Dubai Canal on 9th November, Dubai gets another feather. Another attraction for tourists and residents to explore.

On Wednesday 9th of November, His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai inaugurated the Dubai Water Canal Dh2.7-billion ($730 million) project in a huge way with laser shows, water-borne acrobatics & fireworks.

His Highness marked the opening of Dubai Water Canal electronically by pressing on an electronic panel. Burj Khalifa big image was flashed on a huge screen on the canal banks.

Shaikh Mohammad, accompanied by Crown Prince of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan and Deputy Ruler of Dubai Shaikh Maktoum, then took a boat ride from Jumeirah Bay Island towards the Dubai Water Canal, followed by a flotilla of ferries and abras boarded by officials and engineers.

Dubai skyline was lit up by fireworks across Jumeirah and Safa as the flotilla of boats approached the Shaikh Zayed road bridge, presenting a stunning view of the illuminated waterfall and the Dubai skyline.

The 3.2-kilometre-long canal serves as the final segment of the Dubai Creek extension, terminating in the Arabian Gulf via Al Safa, Al Wasl and Jumeirah 2.
