Flying Drone in Dubai Sky Can Get You A Heavy Fine

If you are planning to use drone in Dubai Sky’s then it’s advised to take approval from DCCA.

According to the latest rule related to the aviation sector and general airspace in Dubai was brought into effect on Thursday after approval by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.

You could be fined between AED 2,000 to AED 20,000 for using non-registered drones for any commercial activity. For other activity, the fine starts from AED 1,000

It’s advised to get an approval and no-objection letter prior to any commercial use during an event. Else this mistake could set you back by AED 10,000

Any one who wants to use drone should reach out to DCCA for a license. License comes with a year long validity, however, please keep it mind renewal request must be submitted at least 30 days before the expiry, just to avoid any last min delay.

You would need prior approval from aviation sector if you are interested in Fireworks, laser displays, aerial photography and advertising, balloon launches and air lights.

The fine goes heavier for Airshows. So if you are planning for it then please approach DCCA for no-objection certificate or keep AED 30,000 ready as fine.
