How to Apply for Your Emirates ID Online
Emirates ID cards are like movable databases of the Emirati citizens. It is mandatory for everyone who resides in the UAE to have an Emirates ID, even for newborns. It is also mandatory to be carried at all times.
The Emirates Identification Authority (EIDA) is the autonomous authority by the federal government of UAE which is responsible for the regulation and administration of the ID card initiative. EIDA excels in executing progressive innovations when it comes to serving the public.
The EIDA is fact replacing the other mediums of identification in the UAE with their state of art ID card and many digital services. And, you can get your Emirates ID card issued by applying online.
Visit the official online portal
The EIDA has an excellent online portal to provide the Emirates ID services. You can click on the online form and fill it in either Arabic or English which will barely take 10 minutes unlike the time and extra AED 30 you would have to fish out at the authorized typing centers.
Fill the Emirates ID Application e-form
Once you complete the online registration and fill the data in appropriate sections in the e-form, you can submit your application. However, you have to be very careful with what information you fill. Wrong or missing information can be problematic and lead to cancellation of your application.
Submit Emirates ID application and pay the fees
Once you hit submit, you will have to pay a fee of AED 100 for completing the submission process. Then you will receive an SMS confirmation with an account number on your registered cell phone. Followed by the application approval and scheduled time and venue to provide your biometric identification.
Confirm you biometrics
To confirm biometrics, expats, as well as local citizens, are required to visit a registration center on the date of appointment. You are required to provide the relevant documents at the center. Following the paperwork submission, an Emirates ID representative will gather your biometric data like your fingerprints, photos, and other core details. Once the biometric confirmation is done you will receive an SMS notification of your enrollment.
Complete residency procedures
An expat and their dependent family are supposed to ensure completion of their residency procedures if they are newly relocating to the UAE. The expats are required to get their medical checkups fulfilled in order to get their UAE residential permit approved and stamped.
GCC citizens are required to provide proof of residency of any kind and a marriage certificate if they gained a residence by marriage or an employment card.
Collect the ID at the Emirates Post Office
Once all the requirements are satisfied and procedures completed with provisions of supporting paperwork, you will receive your Emirates ID card within ten working days. You can track the status of your card online. However, the EIDA will send you an SMS notification of the issuance of your card, followed by the date and location from where you can collect it.
